ABOUT US
"My GREATEST FEAR is that I am POWERFUL
beyond measure!" Marianne Williamson
Dancing With A Purpose - DWAP is a POWERFUL Non-Profit, Community and Service Based Organization that recently celebrated 22 years of educating and supporting Families, Women, Young Adults and children in underserved and underrepresented communities locally, and all around the country.
Each year DWAP creates and launches engaging and educational Programs that motivate, support and empower Families, Women, Young Adults, Youth and children.
Over the years, Programs like "I Am My Sister's Keeper; the Big Girls Book Club (BGBC), Black Girls Matter (BGM); CODE Like Us (CLU); Dancing With A Purpose (DWAP); DC Youth Lead (DCYL); DWAP Steps; JUST-US; WE WIN Virtual In-School and Out-of-School Programs and Youth Empowered and Powerful (YEP) were all created to address the concerns plaguing and challenging our communities today. DWAP has always been intentional about developing Programs and Activities that would give the Youth and children 21st Century Life-Skills, Educational Tools, Strategies, Job Training and Job Readiness Skills that will impact their life and change the trajectory of every individual who participates in our Programs.
In January of this year, DWAP began the "DWAP Outsourcing Service." DWAP partnered with other Organizations that had "critical staffing needs," and we hosted Job Fairs; Interviewed potential staff; we Trained the Young Adults when necessary and we placed them in organizations that were willing to Train and Mentor them to work in viable positions within their Organization. The employers placed these individuals in "Temp to Hire" positions, where 98% of these individuals have been HIRED!
DWAP operates After-School, Saturdays, Sundays, Spring Break and Summer Programs. Our Programs excite and inspire individuals from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
For the last three years, DWAP has been intentional and instrumental in launching Programs that address the current social and emotional needs of the individuals in the communities that we serve and support.
On January 1, 2023, DWAP acquired an Event Space at 533 Ritchie Road in Capitol Heights, Maryland 20743. The Meeting Place (TMP) will support the growing needs of Families, Young Adults, Youth and Children in Prince George's County. Our 2023 DWAP Affirmation simply says, "WE ARE MOTIVATED BY LOVE!"
